However, I advocate for a broader approach that does not rely solely on the criminal justice system. By empowering communities to take an active role in addressing addiction, we can foster a more supportive environment for those in need.

Furthermore, legalizing drugs would enable the marketplace to adapt and regulate the industry more effectively than the current situation, where drug dealers have control. This shift could help mitigate the harm and unnecessary fatalities that arise from illegal drug trafficking.

I urge you to consider these points as you continue to address drug policy in our state. Discussions around drug legalization are critical to understanding how we can create a healthier, safer community for all.
