Christmas Day walk of 2026! Public awareness walk to support a bill in congress: drug policy reform act!
On Christmas Day 2026, we will begin the Christmas Walk of 2026 with one mission: to find Saint Nick. My destination is Texas, and over the course of approximately five months, I hope to meet people from all walks of life, build new friendships, and create a nationwide networking opportunity centered on one of the most important issues facing our society today: our continued struggle to effectively address drug use, addiction, and recovery in our society.
Throughout this journey, we will be discussing the Drug Policy Reform Act of 2026, listening to the experiences and ideas of the people I meet, and encouraging communities to become part of the conversation. My hope is that this walk will inspire collaboration, expand awareness, and build the public support needed to pass these bills on drug policy reform.
The destination may be Texas in search of Saint Nick, but the true purpose of the journey is to bring people together, promote recovery and second chances, and keep the conversation moving until we see real change. Together, we’ll work to build support for the Drug Policy Reform Act of 2026, and then keep it moving. Be a part of writing the Bill, a conversation that challenges the status quo and explores real solutions. Become a Street Campaigner, as an individual or as a part of a team. Write our senators and/or our congressman/women using one of our pre-written letters or write your own.

To Our Citizens
Citizen,
I am writing to invite you to become involved in an important public awareness campaign focused on drug policy reform. Our goal is to build support for legislation that would reduce nonviolent drug possession offenses from felonies to misdemeanors. We believe this change would lessen the lifelong consequences of felony convictions while allowing law enforcement and the criminal justice system to focus more effectively on addressing substance use through treatment, prevention, and other evidence-based solutions.
One way you can help right now is by writing letters or emails to your elected officials. The name of the Bill is: Drug Policy Reform Act of 2026, and I am aiming for Texas. Even if your representative is not directly voting on legislation in Texas, support from public officials across the country can help bring greater attention to this issue. Every letter and contact with the government matters!
To raise public awareness, we are organizing the Christmas Day Walk of 2026. This walk is dedicated to my symbolic journey to “find Saint Nick” because this year, the gift I am seeking is not for myself; it’s meaningful drug policy reform. My hope is to see a law passed in Texas that reduces felony drug possession charges to misdemeanors.
Everyone is welcome to join us as we walk together on Christmas Day and leave the city in support of this cause. I will continue walking to Texas to turn myself in on a possession charge that I believe should be classified as a misdemeanor rather than a felony. My journey is intended to raise awareness of the need for drug policy reform.
Sincerely,
Amy Rebbecca Cashman
